2026
January: I moved to Seattle to start as a postdoctoral scholar in the lab of Dr. Joseph Sisneros at the University of Washington.
2025
November: A new paper from my dissertation came out in the Journal of Experimental Biology. I was interviewed for the Early Career Researcher Spotlight series. This paper was picked up by 42 media and news outlets around the world, describing how "hatchling loggerhead turtles' map sense feels the Earth's magnetic field".
October: Successfully defended my PhD (yeehaw)!
2024:
April: I was the recipient of the Graduate School Dissertation Completion Fellowship.
2023
February: I was interviewed for my hometown (Forest Lake, MN) Community Scholarship Foundation organization spotlight video.
April: I was the recipient of the P.E.O. Scholar Award.
2022
January: The Lohmann lab published a review article on "magnetic maps in animal navigation" in the Journal of Comparative Physiology A. This paper ended up winning the Editor’s Choice Award for Best Paper 2023 and the Reader’s Choice Award for Best Paper 2024 in the Journal of Comparative Physiology A.
2021
July: I received the Gordon W. and Janice L. Plumblee Summer Research Fellowship, and an article on my research was featured in the Carolina Graduate School Magazine.
2020
March: The Lohmann lab's outreach was featured in the local Coastal Review magazine article. Our lab created a lesson plan based on our scientific research for local educators. We went to a SciREN Coast outreach event and connected with many educators from the state of North Carolina.
2019
Novemeber: An article on my research discusses "how sound pollution decreases the chances of love for oyster toadfish".
